This beautiful Mainship 400 was originally listed for $250,000 and had a contract on it in March, 2023 for $245,000. A survey and mechanical testing were done. The surveyor found excessive moisture readings in stringers and bulkheads and some soft areas in decking. A reevaluation was performed later, and that surveyor has opined that the moisture issue arose as a result of the significant rain water that collected in the engine room during Hurricane Ian when the cockpit drains clogged from all the blown debris and the accumulating water found its way into the bilges/engine room. The original surveyor also found active termites, (probably attracted by the wet wood). Extermination of the termites is scheduled in July. Engines, oil, electronics, electrical system and plumbing all checked out satisfactorily. There was cosmetic damage as a result of the collapse of the covering structure onto the boat. These have all been repaired.

The boat will require significant repairs to stringers and bulkheads. The estimate for these repairs has ranged from $80,000 to $100,000. The price reduction of $100,000 compensates for these repairs.

The owners, who live in another state, having already spent considerable time and money correcting the cosmetic issues, have decided to offer the boat “As Is” and “where is”, thus, the significant reduction of the offering sale price. The original surveyor assigned a fair market value “as is” at $178,000.00.

Overview

There is plenty of room for seating and relaxing on the bridge. There is even a Summer Kitchen option providing a grill, sink and ice maker aft of the centerline helm. Wide molded steps offer safe and secure footing to the covered aft deck. Going forward, there are wide, lighted and recessed walkways with overhead protection leading to the foredeck. A stainless steel Sampson post and dual roller pulpit is perfect for setting the anchor and the optional windlass makes retrieval a snap. All rails, hatches and port lights are now fashioned from 316L stainless steel for easy maintenance and great looks.

Mainships feature beautiful cherry wood interiors. All cabinets, drawers and tables are solid cherry and the cherry and holly sole is very traditional as well as serviceable. The extended salon includes an Ultra leather sofa, entertainment center with audio system, and flat screen TV. A starboard side galley offers a full size, dual voltage refrigerator and freezer, microwave, 3-burner range and oven, and even a coffee maker. Special attention has been given to general and dishware storage and the location for an under counter trash receptacle. To port of the lower station is a full dinette that seats four with a comfortable bench and two chairs.

Forward, is a master stateroom with a centerline inner spring queen berth and plenty of hanging, drawer and locker storage. A second stateroom offers two single berths and the head, with a separate stall shower is accessible from the master stateroom or the companionway.
